Last Days of School

While we were busy getting ready for the last days of school Dallin found the beauty of being out doors. He and Bastet love to sit in the sun.

Caia participated in the district wide 5th and 6th grade track and field Meet.  It’s  long standing tradition here.

Elyse had her Kindergarten Camp, I signed up to be run it.  I got to make the name tags and run a station of making SMORES, how fun is that!  The kids learned to make compost, learned about chickens, and made the cutest binoculars from toilet paper tubes and milk jug lids.  I love that it was something Payton did when she was in Kindergarten.

We were so busy with the track meet, kindergarten camp, and 6th grade graduation, Dallin was forced to get his own dinner.

6th grade graduation was a fun event.

These girls have been friends all of elementary school.  They are so fun together that teacher even request to keep them together each year.

Here they are with their teacher Ms. Mock.

Dallin did what he does so often during this school year, kick back and enjoy the ride.

All three girls have had Mrs. Belknap, Caia for 3rd, and Payton and Elyse for Kindergarten.

I got teary eyed saying good bye to Payton’s teacher.  I was able to spend a couple of hours every Wednesday doing the folders for her.  Not only that but Payton had a rough first grade year and Ms McNally was just what she needed.  She may be one of the calmest people I have ever met.  She was artsy and she and Payton really hit off.  They cooked, colored and learned.  She is an amazing person and I have so much respect for her.
So that sums up our crazy last days of school.  It was a great year!

All that Talent

This year Caia and her friends were on the Lena Talent Show Committee.  They got to make posters, hold auditions, and tell the different acts if they got in or to try again next year.  They decided they wanted matching t-shirts to set them apart, so this is what we came up with.

Payton and her friend decided that they wanted to play Ode to Joy since Payton was learning it on the piano and her friend on the guitar.  They brought me their music and it was in the same key so we gave it shot.  They were so cute working on it.  They would come over here to practice and you could see Payton listening and waiting they were a great duet!  So cute!!!  I couldn’t believe how much time they put into practicing when they were together.  They did such a great job!

"Funnest" President's Day Ever!

So just for Elyse who wants to know why funnest isn't a word. Today was the "funnest" President's Day ever!
Our President's Day Bake Off was a blast. Caia and her friends are so much fun to be around.  They decided they wanted to do a cake bake off.  (thank you  TLC and Buddy)  It did require 6 hours and 3 kitchen clean ups, (that the girls were really great about) but the end results were delicious and creative, especially when the whipping cream and sprinkles came in to play.  Addi and Caia both tried a new cake recipe that we will be making again.
Every one took turns leaving the room while everyone else took a bite of  cake and gave a score to it.  Everyone went home with a wooden spoon or rubber spatula award!

 Best Tasting
 Most Original Shape and Decorations

Best use of Sprinkles.

During the baking time a little dancing was involved.  Addi brought this game but it looks like we'll be making the investment, it too was so much fun.
